On the 4th of March 2020, Botswana Oil Limited (BOL) painted Botswana’s second city, Francistown blue and green when the Company hosted a “pricing in the oil and gas industry workshop” in the city.
A similar workshop was held in Gaborone during the last quarter of 2019. The workshops are a response to an identified gap in knowledge on fuel pricing by local companies when dealing with BOL, especially when tendering.
In his welcome remarks, the Acting Chief Operations Officer, Mr. Mosetlho Kenamile indicated that Botswana Oil Limited is mandated with, amongst other things, the facilitation of citizen companies in the oil and gas industry and such training is in fulfillment of this aspect of BOL’s mandate. Mosetlho further highlighted that BOL has been working closely with some of the citizen companies under the BOL Citizen Owned Oil Companies programme and it is through such collaborations that the need to share knowledge around the proper use of the slate was identified, amongst other needs.
The participants expressed gratitude for the support Botswana Oil Limited gives them as entrepreneurs. They expressed a wish for more courses across the oil and gas value chain. For BOL, the feedback received from the participants will be used to inform future interventions, all in a bid to empower Citizen Owned Oil Companies.
